Tour Description
The Midtown Manhattan Art & History Walk will give you a wonderful overview of the many public artworks that grace this area. We'll visit St. Patrick.s Cathedral,the largest Gothic Revival Catholic cathedral in North America and learn about the celebrity studded funeral of an artistic legend. We'll explore the many works of art in Rockefeller Center, some controversial, others loved by one and all. Next, we visit the (now) infamous Trump Tower and learn about the historic preservation controversy that raged during its construction as well as the avant-garde artists who used to create works for its windows. Along the way we'll visit Tiffany & Co. and see where Audrey Hepburn had her breakfast. We'll visit the original home of MOMA, and the often overlooked masterpiece that is St. Thomas Church, ending at the present day location of the Museum of Modern Art..
Special Considerations
The tour can be taken at anytime of the day between 8am and 2pm .
I prefer to take groups of 5 people or less. I might make a special consideration for any group larger than that.
This is a 2 mile walking tour and is handicap accessible. .
Directions: Take the B, D, F or M trains to the 47/50 Streets Rockefeller Center Stop.
We will meet underneath the American flag outside the front entrance steps to St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Ave.
